German motorway A72 (German Bundesautobahn 72, BAB 72, Autobahn 72) also called Vogtlandautobahn, runs along the border with the Czech Republic, creating a diagonal connection between the cross-hairs on the A4 and A9 motorways. It is one of the oldest German motorways. The current episode was largely built in the years 1935-1942, only partially as a motorway carriageway. When the works were suspended, the highway was not fully passable. After the division of Germany in 1945, crossed the new frontier A72, which resulted in the closure of the border parts
